Social Media Etiquette – Tips for making sure your efforts are well received

Professionally speaking, social media has created a phenomenal opportunity for people to share and receive information about their business and expertise instantaneously. While social media has revolutionized the way we communicate and market our services, it has not changed the fact that we must mind our manners. Here are a few tips for ensuring your online efforts are well received.

1. Know your technology. Regardless of the platform, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, know what your profile and status updates look like to the rest of the world. Your profile is an extension of your image, both personal and professional. Know what your online presence looks like…everyone else does.

2. Regardless of your privacy settings, treat your pages and status updates as public information. Don’t post anything you wouldn’t want your current or future clients to see.

3. Regardless of how valuable your message is, the focus will always be on your mistakes, so make sure you proofread your posts.
