Firm Plans

Our national surveys show firms with written marketing plans are more satisfied with their business development efforts than those without a written plan.

We help firms write efficient marketing plans with manageable budgets. The result: lawyers have their choice of file and fee.

As often as not, we then help the firm implement the plan we have developed. Just as often, we help our clients hire in-house marketing personnel or a local public relations firm to implement the plan.

How We Develop a Marketing Plan

Every marketing plan should list measurable goals and delineate a clear path to success. In summary, here is how we help firms write their marketing plans:

  • Develop an online overview questionnaire to gather business development information from the firm's principals and any other personnel you designate as participating in the planning process. In many cases, we also conduct personal interviews to probe more deeply into a firm's culture and competition.
  • Compile and analyze that information in conjunction with our own market and competitive research.
  • Using the research compiled, develop a marketing report used to prompt discussion and reach consensus concerning your firm's differentiating market attributes, targets, competition and most effective market position. (We employ the latest meeting technology, including laptops and remote participant software for those who may be able to attend discussion sessions in person.) The results of that meeting allow us to draft substantive portions of your plan.
  • At a subsequent plan drafting meeting, we help you write measurable annual goals and the specific action items required to accomplish each goal. Each action item includes a deadline for completion, projected out-of-pocket costs and designates who is responsible for the task's completion.
